Jagiellonian University Medical College is the oldest medical school in Poland. The Jagiellonian University's Faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy are acclaimed as one of the largest medical academies in Poland. The school was established by King Casimir III of Poland in 1364, making it the 10th oldest medical school in the world. It is considered the most prestigious medical school in Poland and one of the most prestigious in Europe. Jagiellonian University Medical College (JUMC) provides patient care, medical education, and research training through its various clinical affiliates and research institutes such as the University Hospital in Krakow, University Children's Hospital of Krakow, John Paul II Hospital, Ludwik Rydygier Memorial Specialized Hospital, St. Lazarus Hospital, and the University Dental Clinic. Jagiellonian University Medical College also partners with new entities such as the Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology, the Centre for Medical Genomics OMICRON, the Centre for Innovative Medicine, and the Centre for Regenerative Medicine. Over the centuries, it has contributed vastly to the advancement of medical science and education, including pioneering research in fields such as immunology, oncology, and cardiology.
